ChadPateman The young Bee Gees playing the "Sydney Trocadero", in George Street, Sydney NSW, Jan 1st, 1964. Many thanks to Jitka for the photo and to Lesley Evans (Bee Gees sister) for the photo information; confirming it was indeed her brothers (sporting Beatles haircuts and Maurice on a Fender?) and that she was there that night in 1964, and living at Middle Cove (NSW). * The Sydney Trocadero was a large art deco dance and concert hall that operated between 1936 and 1971. It was the main venue of Big Band jazz orchestras, with the resident Trocadero Orchestra under the baton of Frank Coughlan, and the All Girl Trocadero Band. Often referred to as "The Troc", it was once regarded as "the most glamorous dance palace in Sydney" and accommodated up to 2,000 people!! It was the favoured venue for university and school 'formals', and hosted many important local rock and pop concerts during the 1960's that included the Bee Gees! Photo left to right: Barry (17), Maurice (14) and Robin Gibb (14). #BeeGees #SydneyTrocadero Bee Gees Aug 11, 2026

A previous building on the site was a 19th century mansion, and part of the Jacobean style decorated plaster ceiling of the mansion has been retained in the pub's Garden Room. An off licence built with the pub is now a carpet showroom. The pub was demolished and replaced by the building of an Asda supermarket, which Sutton Council approved on 21 January 2015.
