 simplynewt Seen Ted Nugent, Pat Travers and The Scorpions. I was with a couple friends who have never been to the Sportatorium before. We watched the Scorpions play a decent set and then decided to show the new guests the balcony outside. Back then you could smoke inside so we decided to get some fresh air. Upon reaching the balcony on the North side about midway of the building, we started watching the people sitting around on the grass outside of the building. I noticed two police walking towards a couple sitting on the grass and I assumed they were smoking a joint as the cops made them stand up and they were frisked and then handcuffed. As the cops were walking them towards a small trailer also on the North side I could see several concert goers starting to get wound up over the sight of this and started yelling at them. The cops made it to the trailer to drop off their suspects and came back out and started walking towards another small group of people. They started the same procedure and that was the straw that broke the camels back. The cops almost made it to the trailer with their newly arrested when it started raining rocks and bottles on them. I seen one of the two cops that made the original arrest get hit in the head with a large stone and that's when it became real. Me and the new guests I was with were watching all this unfold from the middle point of the balcony and I was just shocked to see it go down the way it did. We watched the rocks and bottles fly at the trailer when I seen a guy lull the crowd by telling them to stop throwing with his hand gestures. After he got them to stop, he creeped up to the window of the trailer and started hurling large rocks threw the window. Her threw as many as he could before the cops rushed him. He was grabbed and they proceeded to get the crap beat out of him. It was at this point I told the shocked visitors that we should probably get back in to the auditorium as it was probably a safer place to be. We went through a door on the North side and Pat Travers had already made it to the stage. We watched his set and practically forgot about what was going on outside. After Pat left the stage, we decided to stay put as the place was starting to become radioactive in anticipation of Uncle Ted showing up and blasting us away. All of a sudden the lights went out, the crowd started screaming and two white lights shone on the stage at a madman swinging from Stage Left to Stage Right on a rope in nothing more then a Loin Cloth. Uncle Ted has hit the stage. We watched him as he methodically blew us away. The end of the show came and it was time to go outside. We got out into the parking lot and it looked like Armageddon had came. A coupe cars were on its side. Fog was all around and I found out later it was tear gas and because of the humidity it only came two or three feet above the ground. The most memorable part of this time was seeing a cop grab a guy by the throat and lift him up on the side of a car and tell him that if he did not get in his car and go, he was going to shoot him and there was nothing the he would do about it.  simplynewt The very 1st show I seen and believe it or not, my Mom was with me as well as several of my friends from school. I do not know who was stoked more, me or my mom. She had a camera and she gave all of us at least one roll of film to smuggle in so she would be sure to get that good picture. We were sitting stage right and I remember every time the fire went up, I could feel the heat on my forehead. What a great show. The fire breathing, spitting blood, guitar smoking, and everything else that goes with a Kiss Concert just left me in awe. I have been trying to find a better show then this and in all my years of seeing concerts, only one show comes close. I will leave that to your imagination. Nantucket opened for the band.  simplynewt I seen Van Halen again at the Hollywood Sportatorium. This would be the last time I would see David Lee Roth with this band as they would kick him out of the band and replace him with Sammy Hagar. Dave would eventually come back to the band but it would not be until 2012 before he would perform with them again and by that time, Michael Anthony would leave the band to play with Sammy's band and Eddie Van Halen's son would play bass for the band.  simplynewt I went and seen AC/DC for the first time at the Hollywood Sportatorium this evening. It was their Black in Black tour and the first one they have done since the lead singer passed away from drinking to much. I was amazed at the bands performance, so much so that I would see them again at every chance I got. I remember seeing them do Hells Bells and the place shook like thunder.  simplynewt I seen Stevie Nicks and Joe Walsh at the Hollywood Sportatorium this evening. This would be the first time I would fall asleep during a concert. I fell asleep while Stevie Nicks was performing and that should be an indication as to how her performance went. BORING. I thought I would enjoy seeing her but she put me right to sleep. Joe Walsh more then made up for it though as he did all his songs from the Eagles and his own solo stuff. I left very pleased with the concert. Stevie Nicks / Joe Walsh Aug 28, 2021
 simplynewt I went and seen ZZ Top, Sammy Hagar and Foghat at the Hollywood Sportatorium this evening. This would be the first time seeing any of these bands and I remember having a great time.  Jeff Chastain This was part of Nanci's Dust Bowl Symphony Tour. It was July 2nd on the waterfront in Seattle and unseasonably cold. About a half hour into the show, Nanci announced that the Orchestra had to leave because "its too cold for their instruments. One of those fiddles could buy a couple of houses.
