 1bgsky Went with a few class mates. We had decided to record the show and big Hellmann brother wore the recorder on his back under his jacket. The Gods of Concert Taping weren't smiling on us though. The cassette stopped early, the tape got flipped and we ended up with only a few seconds of the gig. However, the tiny bit we had did sound really good (we compared it to The Who at Swansea vinyl bootleg) one of us owned. Fischer-Z Feb 04, 2021
 1bgsky The Police were on tour in Europe in early October of 1981 & played a concert in Boeblingen, Germany on 01 October '81. Neither in 1980 nor in 1982 did they play at MSG in NYC on Oct. 1st, so it's a mystery how you ended up with this date. The Police Feb 04, 2021
 1bgsky Just over a year ago they played at the small Wartburg in Wiesbaden - now there's a gig I really should never have missed! - now they're playing at the largest indoor venue in the city.  1bgsky My last ever Prince show, due to me moving to the US in '94 & losing interest in his output. I checked in for a flight to the US a few days later and the check in agent & I both discussed how great the concert had been. This was the one time I felt so burstingly and transcendentally happy during a song - "Diamonds & Pearls" - I literally felt like I had left my body for a moment (no drugs or alcohol were involved).  1bgsky Some choice seats right in front of the stage were still empty after Madhouse' set had ended. I persuaded the female next to me to just brazenly walk down there and sit in them. Well, the VIP's arrived just before Prince was due and we had to retreat back to our original 1st tier seats in a 'walk of shame'. If you don't appreciate a Prince side project, you should have to forfeit your seat ; ) Prince Feb 03, 2021
 1bgsky I managed to receive a wristband that entitled you to the area right in fronto of the stage where we had space to move around. I watched Prince from a meter & a half for DM 51! Just mindblowing. Radio station SWF3 whose logo is on the ticket was supposed to record the show but at the last minute Prince's camp pulled the plug on that. What a pity. Prince Feb 03, 2021
 1bgsky I wasn't supposed to be at this show as I used a 2nd ticket I had for Frankfurt (and there was a rush when the doors opened and I covered most of the ticket with my hand) - the luck of the insane, I guess. I sat in the raised seating area on the right and had a much better time than at the scary 1st Frankfurt show. He got behind the drum kit at one point and solo'd for us. When he screamed into the mic, the whole venue seemed to shake. Sadly, no recording of this great show has ever surfaced. Prince Feb 03, 2021
 1bgsky A complete audience recording exists. First & only time I ever queued at the box office hours before opening. This was Prince' first ever concert in Germany and the first time I ever encountered an audience I would describe as on the brink of hysteria. Rows of chairs were set up in front of the stage separated by the rest of us thousands behind a metal barrier. At one time the crowd surged and moved that barrier en masse considerably. We were jammed in so tight, I couldn't lift my arms. People had to removed throughout the concert as they felt close to passing out. It was intense. Prince Feb 03, 2021
