He was the lead vocalist of the hard rock band Van Halen during three periods: from 1974 to 1985, in 1996, and from 2007 until the band's disbandment in 2020. Roth, also known as "Diamond Dave", has also pursued a solo career, releasing eight albums, four of which were certified Gold or Platinum by the RIAA. He had solo hits in the late 1980s with the songs "California Girls", "Yankee Rose", and "Just Like Paradise".
